Entering Barnegat, the waves they were a-crashing, but we made it in fine. Barnegat Light is one of the tallest lighthouses on the east coast.
It was low tide and we couldn't make it into the lagoon where friends Linda and Jim live. So, we anchored in Myers Hole near the inlet for a few hours while the tide rolled in. Luke did a few small chores, I defrosted the freezer, and Smoke guarded the boat from our dinghy.
Linda and Jim live about 1/2 way down a lagoon off of Barnegat Bay. We squeeked Latitudes into the entrance to the lagoon with a mere 1 inch under the keel! But we made it, and here we are tied up at their dock in the lagoon, along with their first "Winsome".
Linda and I did a walk each morning while it was still cool, along with neighbors Mary and Agnes. I also got bit of groceries, cat food and toys, etc. On Wednesday, Linda and I did fabric shopping at a fantastic discount fabric shop in NJ. I got pattern for a shirt and one for a T-shirt (or T-shirt dress) at half price, plus the fabric for both. Can't wait to start on them!
Wednesday night was a wonderful dinner at Margo and Clive's, along with Linda and Jim.
More walking today and the guys have gone on a bike ride to the nearest strip mall. We hope to leave on Friday and anchor near the inlet. From there, a dedicated run overnight to Block Island if the weather forecast doesn't change.

Barnegat lighthouse might be tall (172 ft.), but the Hatteras lighthouse is taller (208 ft.) I think NC takes the claim! :-)
