Retirement - Stage 2 - sort of

The retirement plan is almost working.  Stage 1 was cruising with Latitudes.  Stage 2 was to be cruising with a land yacht, a.k.a. an RV.  Well, we are sort of at Stage 1.5....we still have Latitudes and intend to continue to sail, especially during the winter months, for as long as we like.  But we did succumb to entering Stage 2, the RV stage.

It seemed so logical.  Landlocked for spring, summer, and fall due to my surgery, why not go ahead and get the RV and enjoy it....so we did!  Here is our land cruiser, as yet unnamed.

She is a 2004 Winnebago, 30 ft long.  Now, Class A RV's (that's what she is - the "bus" type, which is Class A) start around 28 ft and go upwards into the 44 ft range.  I haven't driven yet, but riding with Luke to bring her home, I can't imagine maneuvering one of those big monsters along the road, especially the narrow secondary roads!  30 ft is fine - after living on Latitudes, it feels like a spacious cottage!

Now we are looking forward to a few close-by excursions before we take her westward to CO this summer to visit Luke's daughters and the grandbabies.  We hope to spend a couple of months exploring the west as part of that trip.

There will be better pictures later, especially as I get our usual quota of Smokey pictures in the RV and lots of scenery.   We did put Smoke in the RV with us for a bit today as we did a few chores.  After some frenzied exploration of the new habitat, she settled down.  I think she'll be fine. Of course, it wasn't moving....

I am much better.  Only 2 more weeks of the air cast and I hope to be back to a more normal state.    The ankle seems to be healing well and I have a lot less pain than even a week ago.  So, all seems good!
