Changes and back in the RV

ohhh....change is inevitable... it always sneaks around and catches us.  Luke made the difficult decision to sell Wind Song, his 28 foot Columbia sailboat that he has had for over 40 years.  She sits on a nearby lake, woefully lonely and unused for the past few years as we play with Latitudes and the RV.  But she has a new captain, Alex, who is planning wonderful adventures with her.  First, though, some cleaning up and overdue maintenance! We are delighted that she has a new lease on life and a great new home.  Here are Alex and Luke, taking her out for a test sail recently.

While Alex discovers the joys of boat ownership, we are back to the "joys" of RV ownership --- like scrubbing down the top after a long winter of being covered.

Our plan this summer for the RV is to spend about 3 weeks in her, going to Colorado to visit Luke's daughters and the grandkids (yay!!!), then taking our time going home.  We plan to stay a while in Omaha, do another round of bourbon distillery tours, visit the Toyota plant where my car was built, and then go underground to see the Exhibition Coal Mine in WV. Maybe more...

First step was today - a long trip to Chillicothe, OH - always a long trip going through WV.  Slowly up the mountains and then trying to maintain less than 65 on the way down.   But we made it.  Not terribly hot, but a really hazy day.  That's a shame, as we do love the mountains of WV.

The rugged mountains finally gave way to the gentler terrain of Ohio.  Still hazy, but gentler.

Our first night in the RV. At a lush, green campground, as seen out of the driver's window?

Noooo....the gray concrete of our first Wal-Mart.

But the air has cooled nicely, the birds (on the driver's side!) are singing their good-night songs, Smokey is guarding her world from a feral cat searching for mice in the grass, and all is good.  Tomorrow, another 400 miles, but we hope to be in CO on Sunday.
