Tendrils from NASCAR were pulling us to the LOBSTER BOAT RACES at Winter Harbor on Saturday, only 10 miles away! So, after being rained in on Wednesday, we decided to spend another day in Acadia. To hike along the rocky shore line.
It was cloudy and foggy, but still spectacular
While it may be the big outdoors, it's by no means isolated - this is the crowd overlooking Thunder Hole, where, with the right tide and wave conditions, waves thunder in and spray flies high. Three million visitors per year to Acadia National Park.
Overlooking some spectacular cliffs
and success in the struggle for survival.
Leaving the shore, we trekked inland on a trail of almost all rock with a stream running down it
with great slabs of granite grey and bleak in the foggy afternoon
and small bursts of color to warm the scene.
Next installment, Acadia by sea...
