Snowbirds in FL

We've finally done it ... we are real snowbirds in FL.  We took the RV down to Titusville a couple of days ago for the month of Feb!

It was not an uneventful trip...cruising down I-95 in FL, we hit a big gust of wind in conjunction with passing a big 18 wheeler on a bridge and a terrible flapping began.  I though we had blown a tire.  Nope - much better than that!  The awning had come lose and was slowly working it's way down the passenger side of the RV.

Fortunately, we were almost at an exit and that exit had a large truck stop.  We were able to get the awning to retract itself.  Not sure how we're going to get it out again, but that is a story for another day.  At least it was our only "adventure".

We are at a state campground along with 160 of our closest friends.  And I mean that.  The spaces aren't on top of each other, but it sure feels full!  The campground is actually at 100% capacity right now.  Our next door neighbors have a laser machine of some sort.  It sends dancing green lights up and down into the trees beside his camper. I couldn't catch it in a picture, but it is beautiful.

A haircut for Luke, a few groceries, a much needed car wash for the Chevy, and we took a walk around the campground and met a few nice folks.  Going to breakfast with one couple tomorrow.

In the later afternoon, we walked to the fishing dock and just sat, watching the ICW that we have sailed down so many times.  Very different from land.  We are across from Cape Canaveral!  A launch is planned for next week.  We hope it'll take off so we can watch it.  Just after dark, we went back to the dock and watched the International Space Shuttle zip across the open sky for about 4 minutes.  Just as it came into view, a shooting star shot across it's path!

And I leave you with 2 new Snowbirds in FL
