oh, the woes....

We were almost ready to leave St. Augustine yesterday morning, when I went for the usual "one more time before I leave" task ---- and the head (toilet) wouldn't flush.  It got worse. Much worse. Cruisers are a self-reliant bunch, and sure enough, we had a replacement toilet pump on board.  This isn't the most pleasant job.  It fact it's a mess, and I'm grateful that Luke can do it.  Lots of work in a little space.

Lots of tools

After a few hours, we were ready for the big flush.  Nothing.  aaaaggghhh!!!!!  Next option, a clogged hose, connecting the toilet to the holding tank.  Yulp, it was clogged.  Boy, was it clogged.  We hitched a ride with Lisa to a marine store for replacement tubing, had dinner, and called it a long day.
Today we successfully replaced the old tubing with the new one.  This is not an easy project, as all of the tubing runs under the floorboards of the boat.  But Luke connected the two and used the old one to pull through the new one.

Next, major cleaning.

Now we can relax. We did get to have another dinner with Lisa and family last night, and (weather permitting) leave for New Smynra Beach tomorrow.  And yes, we have another repair kit on order to pick up in Vero Beach!
Luke's statement of the day is that the phrase "everything is working" is banned.  He is resolved to always have something in a state of disrepair so that the gremlins won't conspire to break something new.
