from the mountains of West VA to the plains of Western IL (in 95 degrees.....)

We left early and just sort of kept going....560 miles.  But we did go through a time zone change, so it seems earlier.

Our day started at 7, driving through the beautiful, slightly foggy, winding mountain roads of WV.

Past the state capital, Charleston, with its famous golden domed capital building.

Then we zipped through Louisville, and continued westward.

I tried for a picture of the plains, through the side window, but they didn't turn out.  I'm SURE I'll have some later!
The plan is to leave at sunrise tomorrow to beat the rush hour traffic through St. Louis (if that is possible).  After a long day of driving, we should be in a position to ensure our timely arrival at the national park in CO on Saturday and still have time to be tourists on the way.
