Key Biscayne

Ahhh....blissful relative calm seas!  Per Luke's grand suggestion, we dropped our mooring ball this morning and motored the whopping 2 miles across the Biscayne Bay to a sheltered anchorage where we sit quietly and peacefully.  Much better than our night at a mooring ball at the receiving end of 15 to 20 kts of wind across 2 to 3 miles of water. We can definitely tell we are in Biscayne Bay, the playground of the rich, famous?, and young..

Yachts...

Sunny 80 degree weather that allowed us to put up our "Bahamian sun screens" for the first time this trip.

Miami in the distance

By the way, those ports and container ships in Miami?  That's where all of the cheap junk, and not so cheap "made in China" from China comes in --- in container loads.

Anyway, Key Biscayne also has a few homes along the bayside...

Latitudes has the same waterfront view for a lot less!
The water play boats ply the rich and young in the bay - here is one fellow learning how to use a jetpack.  Looks like a LOT of fun!

Smoke is relaxed in the warm sun, head tucked so deeply that she appears to be a headless cat.  A happy headless cat.

Luke is relaxing in the cockpit.  As his shirt says, he's doing some Bahamias dreaming.  The forecast has changed - as always - and now our first good chance at a crossing is probably Thursday.  Boating buddies Mimi and Otto plus Bonnie and Pete arrived here today and are awaiting a crossing also.

I am waiting for the Super Bowl to start!  Think I'll turn it on now and catch some of the commercials.!
